90年代クラブブームが到来し、ダンサブルなハウスミュージックが台頭し始めるとDJたちを中心にジャズやワールドミュージックなど様々な音源や打ち込みを取り入れたエレクトリカルな音～ジャングルやドラムンベース～といったサウンドが生み出されました。

トレイシー・ソーンとベン・ワットの2人によって1982年に結成されたユニット。初期の頃はアコースティックなサウンドでしたが、1996年の『哀しみ色の街』以降ドラムンベースと呼ばれるハウスサウンドに路線変更。といってもダンサブルな音ではなくしっとりとしたアンビエントハウスの様な音作り。静かに夜を過ごしたい時とかにオススメ。

The unit was formed in 1982 by Tracy Thorn and Ben Watt. In the early days they had an acoustic sound, but after 1996’s ‘Sadness Coloured Town’ they changed course to a house sound called drum’n’bass. However, the sound is not danceable, but more like a quiet ambient house sound. Recommended when you want to spend a quiet night.

オリジナリティあるアシッドジャズ。Jamiroquai

シンガーソングライターのジェイ・ケイを中心にしたプロジェクト。一般的にはジャズファンクとされていますが、オーストラリアの民族楽器を取り入れたりと既存の音楽カテゴリーに囚われないオリジナリティあるサウンドで世界を魅了しました。

The project centred on singer-songwriter Jay Kay. Although generally regarded as jazz-funk, the band fascinated the world with its originality and sound that defies existing musical categories, such as the incorporation of Australian folk instruments.
